What Data We Collect

Local Browser Storage

All your data (tasks, bookmarks, settings) is stored locally in your browser using localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not sent to our servers.

Tasks

Your to-do items and task data that you create within the extension. This data is stored locally on your device to provide you with task management functionality.

Bookmarks

Custom bookmarks you add to your new tab page. This includes bookmark names and URLs that you choose to save.

Settings & Preferences

Your extension settings and preferences, such as display options, theme choices, and feature configurations to personalise your experience.

How We Use Your Data

We use your data exclusively for the following purposes:

Service Provision: To provide and maintain the Browsilla extension functionality
Local Storage: Your tasks, bookmarks, and settings are stored locally on your device
Service Improvement: To analyse usage patterns (in aggregate, anonymised form) to improve our service

Analytics

We use Matomo, a privacy-focused, self-hosted analytics platform, to understand how our extension is used. This helps us improve the service. The analytics data we collect includes:

Extension installation and uninstallation events
Daily active usage (anonymised)
Browser language and extension version

Matomo is hosted on our own servers in Frankfurt, Germany (EU). We do not use any third-party analytics services like Google Analytics. Your analytics data is not shared with anyone.

Data Storage & Security

Your tasks, bookmarks, and settings are stored locally in your browser using localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers. Your browser's built-in security features protect this data from unauthorized access.

You have full control over your data. You can delete individual items within the extension or clear all data by using your browser's settings to clear site data. Uninstalling the extension will also remove all locally stored data.

Used to display weather information. When enabled, your approximate location (via browser geolocation) is sent to Open-Meteo to retrieve weather data.

Used to display website icons for your bookmarks. The domain names of your bookmarks are sent to Google to retrieve favicons.
